Signum Systems Announces Ultra-Fast JTAG Emulator for ARM and OMAP
Software Developers
SPEEDY JTAGJET COMPATIBLE WITH
ARM AND PALM OS DEBUGGERS
Moorpark, CA
October 22, 2002 – Signum Systems Corp. today announced an ultra-fast JTAG
interface tool for ARM and OMAP embedded designs. JTAGjet emulator comes
with Chameleon Debugger for ARM and gives software developers the choice of
using other third party ARM debuggers as well. JTAGjet, is a small,
palm-sized unit that connects to the PC’s parallel port and allows to
download applications at speeds greater than 500 Kbytes per second.
The JTAGjet is fully compatible with most of the ARM debuggers, including
ADS (ARM), Palm Universal Debugger (Palm), Code Composer Studio (TI), GDB
(GNU) and Chameleon Debugger (Signum Systems). It is targeted specifically
for design teams and software contractors that need the high-speed operation
and require one hardware tool for design groups with different software
tools, greater portability and remote debugging.
With the new JTAGjet emulation technology from Signum Systems, high-speed
downloads between the host PC and target board can reach 1 MBytes per second
(MBps), allowing developers to quickly download the entire embedded
Operating Systems and applications, inspect variables and refresh the
debugger windows in fraction of the time required by conventional JTAG
interfaces. An optional ICEServer software allows any JTAGjet connected to a
workstation PC to be shared with other users over the Local Area Network.
The JTAGjet technology extends even more debugging power to the developer by
providing an optional ETM (Embedded Trace Macrocell) Advanced Trace module
capabilities to quickly find and fix difficult real-time software problems.
These new key features increase productivity for designers and shorten time
to market for new ARM and OMAP based applications.
JTAGjet also features better target control during power and reset cycles
and is ideal for bringing-up new hardware as it incorporates core power and
reset monitoring, programmable JTAG clock speeds (down to 1kHz), automated
test scripts and CPU initialization macros for many target platforms to get
the hardware configured and tested before running applications.
The JTAGjet emulator comes with the Chameleon Debugger for ARM and OMAP
cores that features smooth interface to many ARM C compilers, powerful and
intuitive user interface, Graphical Event Triggering System, software and
hardware breakpoints, drag-and-drop variables, C and ASM level fly-over
variable pop-ups and hundreds of other debugging shortcuts.
New hardware registers or peripherals, which are common to every ASIC
design, may be easily added by using a Register Window template or by using
a plain text file and displayed in the Register Window with all relevant
information, including bit field names and descriptions.
A complete, integrated debug system consisting of the JTAGjet and Chameleon
Debugger for ARM and OMAP is available now starting at $1,500. For further
