Signum Systems Announces New JTAG Emulator Tool for Texas Instruments’ TMS320DM355 Digital Media Processor

Camarillo, Calif. – September 5, 2007 – Signum Systems, a debug and emulation tool company, today announced a JTAGjet-355 emulator that provides development and debugging support for Texas Instruments Incorporated’s (TI) TMS320DM355 digital media processor based on DaVinciTM technology.

Signum Systems’ JTAGjet-355 emulator supports all TI DaVinci technology and OMAPTM devices, but with its native eBinderTM and Linux support, it is configured especially to fit the DM355 targeted development environments. The emulator comes with high-speed (480 Mbps) USB 2.0 interface to a Windows or Linux based host PC to allow fast code downloads, high-speed real-time communication between the target application and the debugger as well as rapid NOR and NAND flash programming.

The JTAGjet emulator is compatible with TI’s Code Composer StudioTM (CCStudio) Platinum, version 3.3 integrated development environment (IDE) as well as most major ARM debuggers, Linux GDB based ARM debuggers and Microsoft WinCE Platform Builder. It also fully supports the TI’s DM355 Digital Video Evaluation Module (DVEVM) with a board support package that includes native Linux connectivity, initialization macros and simple flash programming and recovery in case of accidental erasure. The emulator’s Embedded Trace Buffer (ETB) adds extra visibility into the executing code in real-time to allow tracing of the executing program and its variables.

The new DM355 processor, which provides up to 50 million pixels per second JPEG imaging and high-definition (HD) MPEG-4 video performance for portable applications, complements the existing JTAGjet toolset, which already supports many other devices including ARM7, ARM9, ARM11, Cortex, OMAP and TMS320 DSPs to provide natural, non-intrusive methods to quickly locate and fix bugs in the embedded software or firmware.

“Signum’s new JTAG emulator for DaVinci technology helps to further the development of next-generation, portable digital video devices,” said John Dixon, DaVinci marketing manager, Texas Instruments. “The emulator will not only enhance the DM355 development experience, it will allow developers to take advantage of the tools and support included in TI’s DaVinci technology portfolio, saving them months of development time.”

The JTAGjet-355 emulator is tuned to address the needs of DM355 developers. The basic version includes drivers for development teams using the embedded Linux and GNU software and debug tools.

For projects using non-Linux tools, JTAGjet can be ordered with Signum Systems’ flagship Chameleon Debugger for ARM with Embedded Trace (ETB or ETM) support, drivers for eSOL RTOS and eBinder™ debugger suite, support for CCStudio, RDI drivers for 3rd party ARM debuggers and WinCE Platform Builder support.

Availability The JTAGjet-355 emulator is available now. For more information, please contact Signum Systems Corp. at 805-383-3682 or visit www.signum.com.
