Signum Systems Announces Network Connectivity for Texas
Instruments XDS560 Emulators
HIGH SPEED NETWORK INTERFACE KIT MAKES
XDS560 EMULATOR PORTABLE
Moorpark, CA May 20, 2002
Signum Systems Corp. today announced a companion product for the new XDS560
emulator from Texas Instruments (TI), which allows it to be used in networked
environments. The JDSnet-560, based on TI's XDS560 PCI-based emulator, is a small
footprint, desktop unit that connects to the TCP/IP network giving the advantage of
portable and remote debugging.
The JDSnet-560 is fully compatible with the TI's Code Composer Studio Integrated
Development Environment (IDE) v2.1 and is targeted specifically for design teams that need
the high-speed operation of the XDS560, but require portability and remote debugging. The
XDS560 emulator is simply inserted into the JDSnet-560 and connected to any hub, router,
PC workstation or notebook via the RJ45 network connection. This gives speeds comparable
to PCI bus without the need of installing the emulator inside a PC, and allows full
compatibility with computers that don't have PCI slots.
With the new XDS560 emulation technology from TI, high-speed Real-Time Data Exchange
(RTDX) speeds between the target and host PC can reach two megabytes per second
(MBps), allowing developers to inspect variables, audio packets and even video streams in
real-time, while the DSP is running the application. The XDS560-class technology extends
capabilities to the developer by providing Advanced Event Triggering capabilities to
quickly find and fix difficult real-time software problems. These new key features
increase productivity for designers and shorten time to market for new DSP applications.
"Our JDSnet-560 network interface companion product makes the XDS560 emulator even
more powerful by expanding its connectivity, while preserving the high-speed
operation," said Jerry Lewandowski, CEO, Signum Systems. "Customers who require
network capabilities are able to take advantage of the high-speed RTDX data link and
increased code download speeds offered by the XDS560."
The JDSnet-560 emulator has its own IP address allowing it to be remotely controlled from
anywhere over the Internet or from inside a local area network (LAN) using the TCP/IP
protocol. This allows any Code Composer Studio debugging session to be accomplished
remotely over the network without requiring the engineer to be in the same room with the
emulator.
"We are happy to be able to offer our customers the advantages of remote
debugging," said Bill Novak, emulation technology product manager, TI.
"Network-based emulation is an important feature for our customers, and we are
excited to see Signum Systems addressing this issue with the JDSnet-560 network interface
kit."
The JDSnet-560 is available now and may be bundled with the XDS560 emulator and Code
Composer Studio offering a complete development system. For further information call
