TMS320 DSP EMULATOR HAS TRACE BUFFER

Moorpark, Calif. – May 11, 1999 – Today Signum Systems has announced a new emulator to support the Texas Instruments TMS320 Digital Signal Processors (DSP).

JDSnet-TMS320 emulator uses the JTAG debug port for accurate breakpoint control and for accessing any on-chip registers and memory. The new emulator offers a complete and powerful debugging tool-set for the TMS320C2xx, 3x, 5x and 54x families today. Support for the TMS320C6000 family is planned for summer 1999.

With the 128K or 256K optional trace buffer module, JDSnet-TMS320 is capable of storing DSP’s program and data flow information with a time stamp in real-time, while executing user’s application. The acquired trace information is displayed in a trace window without the need for stopping the DSP. The trace window shows the program flow along with the corresponding C or assembler source code and a bus cycle accurate time stamp. Any part of the trace may be exported to other applications for further analysis or graphing.

JDSnet-TMS320 is equipped with a standard parallel port to connect to any desktop, notebook or workstation PC. The JDSnet may be connected directly to the thin (10Base2) or twisted-pair (10BaseT) TCP/IP network using the optional Ethernet port.

To interface the trace with user’s target application boards, JDSnet-TMS320 uses a small adapter pod. This universal pod accepts many different footprint adapters (QFP, TQFP, LQFP, PLCC), depending on the DSP’s package. A separate cable is dedicated for the JTAG debug port which allows access to the on-chip registers, breakpoints and internal or external memory.

JDSnet-TMS320 may be ordered with Signum Systems’ Multi-Core Chameleon Debugger™ or with Texas Instruments’ Code Composer™.

Chameleon Debugger™ is a multi-threaded application that runs on computers equipped with Windows 95/98 or NT. The debugger supports all major C/C++ compilers at the source level with the latest advanced software debugging and verification tools such as variable pop-ups in sources, locals, pass-points, performance analysis, coverage analysis, graphical complex breakpoint definitions and virtual prototyping of target user interfaces.

Availability
JDSnet-TMS320 with trace and Chameleon Debugger for the TMS320 DSP architecture are available now. Prices start at $2,950 for JDSnet-TMS320 and $3,595 for the 128K trace buffer option. Chameleon Debugger prices start at $950 for a single user license. For further information call Signum Systems at (800) 838-8012 or visit our web site at www.signum.com.
