Signum Systems Announces

JTAGJET-ARM COMPATIBILITY WITH
THE MENTOR GRAPHICS XRAY® DEBUGGER

Moorpark, CA – April 22, 2003 – Signum Systems Corp. announced today a companion product for the XRAY debugger for ARM cores from Mentor Graphics, which allows it to debug ARM embedded systems directly via JTAG channels.

The JTAGjet-ARM, based on the standard JTAG interface, is a small, palm-sized unit that connects to the PC host via any LPT or USB 2.0 compatible port, giving the advantage of fast communications and application code downloads at up to 480 Mbps.

The JTAGjet-ARM is fully compatible with the Mentor Graphics XRAY® Debugger and is targeted specifically for design teams that need the high-speed operation of the JTAGjet. Together with the XRAY Debugger and code|lab EDE integrated development environment from Mentor Graphics, JTAGjet-ARM seamlessly complements the debugging system with an easy-to-use set-up dialog, automatic connection to a target, target initialization, downloading the application and running to any point in the program.

"Our JTAGjet for ARM cores is the connection link between the software developer using Mentor Graphics tools and the target board. JTAGjet is ideal for large projects where application size is substantial and download speeds must be kept to a minimum," said Jerry Lewandowski, President, Signum Systems. "Our customers will be able to take advantage of the out-of-the-box, smooth integration of our JTAGjet with the XRAY Debugger, including its advanced RTOS-aware debugging capability."

JTAGjet is very universal and its LPT printer port interface supports standard, bi-directional and EPP modes and the USB model supports both the High-Speed, 480 Mbps USB 2.0 and Full-Speed, 12 Mbps USB 1.1 standards. The JTAG probe supports voltages from 5V to 2.5V and features programmable JTAG clock (1 KHz to 33 MHz), auto adaptive clocking, target power and reset monitoring and diagnostics that inform of any abnormalities with the JTAG chain.

"The combination of Mentor’s advanced development tools and the JTAGjet product offer our customers a compelling solution for target-based software development," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics. "JTAG-based emulation is an important feature for our customers in the early stages of product development—especially when resources may not be available or even functional. We are excited to see Signum Systems helping to address this issue by integrating JTAGjet and the XRAY Debugger."

JTAGjet-ARM is available now from Signum Systems for the LPT port. The USB 2.0 will be available in the first week of June. Pricing is set at $1,500 and $1,800 respectively. For further information call Signum Systems at (800) 838-8012 or visit their web site at www.signum.com.
