Programming of NAND Flash Devices in ARM and Cortex Embedded Systems

Camarillo, Calif. – March 1, 2010 – Signum Systems Corp., a 30-year provider of development tools for the embedded markets, has added programming of NAND flash memories to its JTAGjet In-Circuit-Debugger (ICD) tools for ARM processors.

As a result, hardware and software engineers using the popular NAND devices will benefit from being able to program and test their board-level applications in seconds, using only the standard JTAG (IEEE 1149.1) port.

With the new NAND programming utility and the JTAGjet ICD from Signum Systems, NAND programming can be performed in-system, right after board assembly without the use of special boot loaders or pre-programmed parts (bare-metal boards). With programming speeds reaching 600+ Kbytes/sec, the entire Linux boot loader and kernel may be programmed in around 5 seconds.

Currently, Signum Systems’ NAND programming utility supports nearly all NAND flash devices connected to the Freescale (i.MX27, i.MX31, i.MX51), Texas Instruments DaVinci™ (DM355, DM356, DM644x, Jacinto2), OMAP3™ and Sitara™ and Samsung S3C2440 devices.

The price for Flasher-NAND programming utility is $650 and JTAGjet emulators for ARM prices start at $1,500 and include our flagship Chameleon Debugger™ for testing and debugging of embedded applications.
